Description of services: The SHIIP program provides counseling on insurance issues for Medicare recipients. Two volunteers staff the service. Clients can receive education on benefits and costs provided by Medicare Parts A and B, explanation of coverage options for Medicare supplements, Medicare Advantage, or Part D Prescription coverage. Part D comparisons will help you choose the lowest cost to you prescription drug coverage. Some assistance can be provided to help a person navigate the system when they have billing or other issues with their insurance provider. SHIIP volunteers help you compare coverage, not advise you what you purchase.

Description of services: Connections Area Agency on Aging provides: Information and referral services for long term care options and needs; Case Management for assistance with access and coordination of services; Option Counseling for those who need assistance in finding out what options are available to be able to remain at home with services as well as assisting with Medicaid applications and other needs; a Nutrition program offering Home Delivered Meals, Congregate meal sites, frozen meals as well as nutritional counseling. We also provide advocacy and assistance with Medicare and Medicare Part D (SHIIP sponsor and Senior Medicare Patrol sponsor). We have Family Caregiver services to provide support and information to caregivers. Our Elder Abuse and Prevention Awareness Program (EAPA) provides support and information with issues of Elder rights. Education and training including evidence based programs and health prevention programs.
